The Netherlands Showcases Global Meetings Excellence as Host of 2025 NATO Summit

Las Vegas, NV – IMEX America, October 2025 – In June 2025, the Netherlands welcomed the world to one of the most complex and high-profile international gatherings of the decade: the 2025 NATO Summit. Spanning multiple cities and venues, the Summit showcased the Netherlands’ ability to deliver seamless logistics, security, and hospitality at the highest level of international diplomacy.

Ultimately, The Hague was selected as the host city for the 2025 NATO Summit. As the international city of peace and justice, The Hague has extensive experience hosting high-level international conferences. In the selection process for the 2025 NATO Summit, the city — with the World Forum as its main venue — emerged as the most suitable location due to sufficient space, options for extended security, excellent accessibility and hotel capacity.

Three Cities, One Experience 

Showcasing the Netherlands ability to make connections alongside the compact size of the country, The Hague, Noordwijk, and Rotterdam joined forces to host the Summit, each city playing a unique role. Reinforcing that the Netherlands is an innovative country motivated to solve global challenges with an open and inclusive approach.

• The Hague, the international city of peace and justice, served as the central hub, with the World Forum The Hague transformed into the secure core of the Summit. Over 6,000 delegates, including 45 heads of state, were supported by facilities that met NATO’s strictest requirements—from specialized acoustic standards to 30 kilometers of dedicated cabling for secure communications.
• Noordwijk showcased its coastal luxury hospitality by hosting the largest single delegation: more than 1,000 members of the U.S. delegation, including cabinet secretaries, stayed across multiple four- and five-star properties. The Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin was the VIP hotel for senior U.S. officials, reinforcing Noordwijk’s reputation for combining world-class service with operational security.
• Rotterdam hosted the official partner program, led by Queen Máxima, who welcomed spouses of heads of state to cultural landmarks including the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen and a private boat tour of Europe’s largest port. This program highlighted how Dutch cities integrate cultural storytelling into international event experiences.

Unprecedented Scale and Precision

• 60,000 hotel room nights were booked across The Hague and surrounding regions.
• 27,000 police officers and 10,000 military personnel ensured security, including nearly all motorcycle officers in the Netherlands.
• Airspace within a 16-kilometer radius of The Hague was closed, emphasizing the scale of coordination between civil aviation, defense, and event organizers.
• Delegates represented 45 languages, supported by multilingual staff and advanced interpretation facilities.

A Model for Global Meetings 

The NATO Summit not only reinforced the Netherlands’ reputation as a destination for international diplomacy but also provided a blueprint for organizing secure, multi-city events at scale. With its blend of accessible infrastructure, hotel capacity, cultural depth, and proven expertise, the Netherlands demonstrated how destinations can rise to the challenge of hosting the world.
