Give yourself a moment of neural nostalgia with SongDivision
Give yourself a moment of neural nostalgia during IMEX: The old songs are the best!
What does music mean to you? Is it essential for lifting— or calming—your mood?
Can you still name your favorite artists and hits from when you were 21? And, if so, do you share those memories with friends and colleagues?
To celebrate their 21st anniversary (and their 21st IMEX), international team builders, culture experts and performance amplifiers, SongDivision, want to capture your 21st musical memories on Instagram— and share your feel-good vibes with the world at IMEX America.
This is your chance to spotlight a long-lost artist who deserves more recognition, or show your younger colleagues you’re way cooler than they ever imagined.
Scientists have identified a phenomenon known as neural nostalgia. It shows that while teenage brains are still developing, specific neurological changes, including hormonal surges, create the perfect conditions for music to embed deeply embed in memory.
According to the Association for Psychological Science, “Researchers have uncovered evidence that suggests our brains bind us to the music we heard as teenagers more tightly than anything we’ll hear as adults—a connection that doesn’t weaken as we age. Musical nostalgia, in other words, isn’t just a cultural phenomenon: It’s a neuronic command. And no matter how sophisticated our tastes might otherwise grow to be, our brains may stay jammed on those songs we obsessed over during the high drama of adolescence.”
Find the SongDivision team roaming the IMEX show floor or at the Hard Rock booth.
