Coffee culture at IMEX
Where coffee is the cornerstone of hospitality
Coffee has never been just a morning ritual at IMEX HQ—it sometimes feels like our whole reason for
bean being (yup, too much coffee!). So we absolutely agree with
Roadbook’s assertion that coffee is a lifestyle, a community. And a cornerstone of hospitality. Across the globe, hotels are embracing coffee culture not just as a standard beverage offering, but as a way to connect with guests, elevate their brand and create memorable experiences.
The Gleneagles Hotel has long been known for its luxury and heritage, but its recent investment in artisanal coffee experiences means that guests can now enjoy curated tastings, barista-led workshops, and locally roasted blends that reflect the area’s character. It’s a move that aligns with a broader trend: hotels are becoming cultural hubs and coffee is the new conversation starter.
Kimpton Hotels have taken this ethos to heart. Known for their boutique style and community-first approach, Kimpton properties often feature locally sourced coffee in their lobbies and offer complimentary morning brews that encourage guests to linger, chat and connect. It’s not just about caffeine—it’s about creating a sense of place.
As Roadbook’s article explains, “Coffee is a connector, a ritual, a moment of pause. It’s also a way for hotels to express their personality.” This is echoed by the Maybourne Hotel Group, whose properties—including The Emory—have elevated coffee service to an art form. Think bespoke blends, elegant service and spaces designed for slow sipping and meaningful conversation.
Starwood Hotels are also leaning into the trend. Their newer properties are integrating coffee bars that double as functional, stylish and welcoming co-working spaces. The shift isn’t just aesthetic. As Roadbook notes, “Hotels are realizing that coffee can be a powerful tool for storytelling.” Whether it’s showcasing local roasters, hosting latte art competitions, or partnering with sustainable coffee producers, the story around coffee is rich and resonant.
